A New Jersey father is facing murder charges in the tragic death of his 6-year-old son, who succumbed to injuries from what authorities describe as chronic abuse.

Christopher Gregor, 29, of Monroe in Middlesex County, had been initially charged with endangering the welfare of a child after the death of Corey Micciolo on April 2, 2021, in Stafford Township.

However, recent developments have escalated the charges to include murder.

The case took a dark turn when investigators discovered disturbing surveillance footage from March 20, 2021, at the Atlantic Heights Clubhouse fitness center.

The footage allegedly shows Corey repeatedly falling off a treadmill while his father, Gregor, increases the speed.

Reports suggest that Gregor forced his son to run on the treadmill as a means of weight loss, a claim supported by Corey himself to his mother, Breanna Micciolo, before his tragic death.

Corey’s tragic passing initially led to charges of endangering the welfare of a child against Gregor, but further investigation, including expert review, revealed the true extent of the abuse.

The Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office determined Corey’s cause of death to be blunt force trauma, leading authorities to upgrade the charges against Gregor to murder.

The case has attracted significant attention, with Breanna Micciolo creating a Facebook group called “Justice for Corey” to support her son and raise awareness about his case.

The group has attracted thousands of members and serves as a platform for seeking justice for Corey and holding accountable those responsible for his death.

Gregor, who denies any involvement in his son’s death, is currently held without bond in the Ocean County Jail.

His defense attorney, Mario Gallucci, has vowed to challenge the prosecution’s narrative, indicating plans to present their own expert witnesses in court.

As the legal proceedings begin, the pursuit of justice for Corey remains crucial, ensuring that those responsible for his untimely demise are held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
